“Careem…?”
Standing several feet from where Dre stood was Careem—Hassan’s older brother—also the mothafucka who had set him up.
Dre barely recognized him as he stared at a side profile. Careem no longer looked like himself. Instead of wearing the True Religion jeans and flashy shoes that Dre was accustomed to seeing him in, Careem was dressed in filthy loose fitting clothes. His stained jeans were ripped at the jeans, and it was obvious that he was either homeless, strung out, or both.
Careem looked as if he’d aged fifty years and his skin was so badly burnt that he hardly looked recognizable. He looked more like Two Face from Batman than the nigga that Dre used to buy his weed from once upon a time.
“What the fuck happened to this nigga?” Dre wondered as he slowly approached him.
Careem was completely unaware of Dre walking up on him as he stared off into space. Drool slipped out the corner of his mouth and rolled down his chin. He was high as hell and nothing else in his pathetic life seemed to matter.
“Karma can be a mothafucka, huh?” Dre sneered, looking down at Careem in pity.
Careem slowly looked up at Dre. Initially, he didn’t recognize who was speaking to him because Dre’s hoodie was pulled down so low. However, after squinting his eyes a little he immediately matched the voice with a familiar face.
Dre shook his head in disgust. Someone had really done a number on Careem’s crooked ass. He felt a combination of hatred and sympathy as he stared into Careem’s one good eye. “Damn, my nigga…” he scoffed.
Dre actually considered killing Careem right now in broad day light in front of hundreds of people until he saw that Careem was already dead inside.
Careem opened his mouth to respond but was too high to even formulate coherent words. He looked like a baby teething as saliva dripped off his chin and landed on his dirty shirt.
Without another word Dre walked off, leaving Careem to enjoy his heroin high. He was as good as dead anyway.
Careem silently watched Dre walk away. He expected a bullet between his eyes at any moment for the shit he and Hassan had did to him, but apparently Dre didn’t feel like he was worth killing. He’d done him the same way Hassan had, and that shit hurt like hell. Apart of Careem was hoping that someone would eventually put him out of his misery, but the moment never seemed to happen.
Tears slipped from Careem’s eye and rolled down his tight, shriveled up, discolored cheek. He now knew what he had to do.
Slowly standing to his feet, Careem half limped half swayed towards the curb. No one seemed to pay the homeless drug addict any mind as he stepped into the middle of ongoing traffic.
BEEEPPPP!
SSCCCCRRRR!
BOOM!
Careem’s body exploded like a watermelon after running smack into the oncoming HealthLine bus!
Dre quickly turned around after hearing the collision followed by pedestrians screaming in fear. His eyes quickly darted to the area Careem previously sat in.
